Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Just read what team will take part in the HBO training camp series Hard Knock this season.  I cant stop smiling.  It might be the greatest television event since that dude landed on the moon.  Theres comedy, theres high comedy, and theres…

The Bengals being on our tv once a week for 6 weeks.

Oh  my!   The criminals, Chad Johnson just being weird, the possibilities are just endless.

NBA Playoffs: Eastern Conf.

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Cleveland/Detroit:   Lebron.  That is all.

Atlanta/Miami:   Seems like this series is probably destined for 7.  Two teams that are very even.  I always go with the theory in the NBA to take the team with the most dominate player.  That would be Wade for this series, but hes hurt so I can see this one going either way.     Gut feeling says Atlanta wins this series.

Boston/Chicago:  WOW what a series.  All but one game has been classic.  Big shot after big shot.  Much like Atlanta and Miami this seems be going 7.  I expect Chicago to win game 6.  It will be interesting to see what happens if this does go 7 because it wouldnt floor me to see Garnett try and play.   Its going to kill him to sit out a game like that and I hate to be the guy trying to keep him off the court.

Philly/Orlando:   Kind of bored by this series.  Game one was great and it seems to be getting a little chippy with the Howard elbow from last night.   If Howard gets suspended I really think Philly can win game 6, but with home court in game 7 I cant see them beating Orlando down there.

NBA Playoffs: Western Conf.

Some quick thoughts on each NBA Playoff series.

Lakers/Utah :    As expected the Lakers rolled.  I dont seem them getting beat before the NBA Finals.  Odom has shined in role and the even bigger difference maker is Bynum,  If you look at the numbers it real simple, when Bynum plays well they win and when he doesnt they lose.  Yes I know Kobe is one of the best world, but he isnt winning a title w/out Bynum.

Houston/Portland:  Havent really watched much of the series due to the time of games and my schedule.  Houston up 3-1, not really shocked by that.  Portland is so young it may take a couple trips to the playoffs to win a series with this core.

Dallas/San Antonio:  This series surprised because of  how easily the Mavs handled the Spurs.  Parker and Duncan were about all the Spurs had.  They really need to revamp their roster in the off season with more athletic  and younger guys.  They have the best coach and gm combo in the league so they should get back on track next season.  Duncan is starting to slip a little bit.

Denver/NO:  I will make this one short.  I under estimated how good Denver was this year and I thought New Orleans would take them to 7. I have no idea what happpened to the Hornets this year.  Injuries Im guessing, but geez.  121-63?   Like a Harlem Globetrotter score.

David Cutcliffe..

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Got to spend about an hour this morning with Duke Head Coach David Cutcliffe.  He truly is one of the characters of the game.  Yes the slurp job from yours truly was on and I should be getting my new jerseys and hats in the mail in the coming days.

Im not going to go crazy and say Duke in the Orange Bowl like I did last year.  I dont make the same mistake twice.

Im going Fiesta Bowl this year.

Before we get started blogging today, thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of David Poole.  I didnt have many interactions with David the last couple years once he got his own radio show, but in my first two years here he was a staple on Primetime.  He was always kind to me when he saw me and helpful if I had to call him for something.  Much like when  Kalas died in the booth a few weeks ago, David was found on his laptop.  He died doing what he loves and he will be missed by everyone in the WFNZ family.

God bless the Poole family.

Well thank goodness the Kurt Russell talk went away.  Now its turned into the Samuel  L. Jackson hour.   Can you really discuss him in just one hour?  The man is credited on IMDB.COM with 127 movies.  What a beast of an actor.   28 since 2006!  Holy!  He does more movies than we do shows.

Again, no idea how this happened or why were talking about it.  You can tell its that time of the year.

Only on the Mac Attack…

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Only on our show does a discussion about the NFL Draft turn into a full blown discussion of our favorite Kurt Russell movies.  One of us went Backdraft, Jimmy went Escape from NY,  Gump went Overboard, and I had to go with the classic Captain Ron.

We also found out Kurt Russell was the voice of Elvis  in Forrest Gump.

ah ha how bout that, your now learning something on the Mac Attack.
